Is it time for me to hire a bookkeeper?
If the books keep sliding to the bottom of your list, if you’re not sure if things are accurate, or if you avoid the books until the last minute. It’s probably time for a bookkeeper.
Perhaps your books are spotless but the time keeping them that way could be better spent on the business or your family, a bookkeeper can give you that time back.
What if I’m embarrassed by the state of my books?
You do not need to clean them up before showing them to a bookkeeper. That would be a little like cleaning the house before the cleaner arrives.
Missing receipts, mystery transactions, half-finished spreadsheets, uncategorized expenses and abandoned attempts at QuickBooks are all things that can be sorted through.
The condition of your books is information, not a moral score.
Can you help if I’m behind on my bookkeeping?
Yes. Catch-up and cleanup work is part of what I offer. The first step is figuring out how far behind the books are, what has already been reconciled, and where the records stopped making sense. From there, I can scope the work properly instead of guessing.
What kind of businesses do you work with?
I work with small, owner-led businesses, especially people building something of their own: artists, healers, makers. Ecommerce shops, service providers, and private practices.
If you built your business because you’re good at the work itself and would rather spend less time thinking about bookkeeping, we’ll probably have plenty to talk about.
Do you work with clients remotely?
Yes. Blank Space Bookkeeping is based in Auburn, Washington, and I work primarily with clients remotely. Local meetings can also be arranged by appointment.
Do you prepare tax returns?
No. I provide bookkeeping and tax-preparation support, which means keeping the books organized and ready for your tax professional. Tax returns, tax strategy, and tax advice belong with a CPA or qualified tax preparer.
